Description

General information

Firefighters' elevators are normal passenger or freight elevators that remain operational in the event of a fire and provide firefighters with a fast access route to the source of the fire or a fast rescue route when evacuating people.

Applicable locations are airports, hospitals, special buildings and high-rise buildings in which firefighters' elevators are mandatory.

Safety-related requirements for firefighters' elevators are basically regulated in the EN 81-72 elevator standard. However, many regional fire protection authorities have their own specific requirements which must also be taken into account and which partly deviate from the standard.

The initial acceptance test is carried out by: approved inspection body (e.g. TÜV) + regional fire protection authority.

Talk button in the fire department access level

In the event of a fire, the noise level can rise sharply, e.g. due to the running pressurized ventilation system. Often, the ambient noise in the fire department access level is so loud that interference-free communication on the hands-free system is no longer guaranteed.

The speech button in the control panel then makes it possible to communicate without any problems anyway. When the firefighting mode is activated, the intercom is used as a hands-free unit by default and as specified by the standard.

If the noise level is too high, it is possible to switch from hands-free to intercom by pressing the pushbutton. The intercom then remains active for the duration of the firefighting operation. The call station is only reset to handsfree mode when firefighting operations are switched off and on again.

Intercom station for the engine room MR Intercom

Completely equipped intercom station for the engine room in a robust surface-mounted housing (protection class IP 54) including push-to-talk button for intercom, pictograms for speech/reception readiness and communication switch on the top of the housing. The type of speech connection is set to intercom (PTT = Push To Talk).

Intercom station for the machine room EA-LMK72E-WG

Intercom stations for installation behind the front panel. The internal LEDs (yellow/green) for indicating the readiness to speak/receive can be led to the front panel via light guides. The type of speech connection is set to intercom (PTT = Push To Talk).
