Is a 4G upgrade of the existing system expensive?
Advantages of a manufacturer-independent elevator emergency call system
A manufacturer-independent elevator emergency call system offers numerous advantages and enables maximum flexibility and cost efficiency:
Freedom of maintenance when choosing a service provider: maintenance and routine call monitoring can be carried out by any elevator company - whether a small specialist company or a large provider. This ensures greater competition and transparent costs.
Cost benefits: Compared to the often expensive service offerings of large elevator manufacturers, the costs of manufacturer-independent systems are generally significantly lower.
Future-proof: Leitronic systems can be upgraded quickly and cost-effectively to future mobile radio standards, such as 4G. This ensures long-term functionality and prevents unnecessary system changes.
Cost-saving upgrade: If a Leitronic emergency call system is already installed, it is advisable to insist on an upgrade with a Leitronic board. This enables cost-efficient modernization and saves high conversion costs.
Protection against unnecessary device changes: Large elevator manufacturers often try to replace existing systems that can be easily upgraded with their own - usually very expensive - elevator emergency call systems. A manufacturer-independent system offers an economical alternative here and protects you from unnecessary investments.
A manufacturer-independent system from Leitronic not only offers high reliability and flexibility, but also enables operators to reduce costs in the long term while remaining at the cutting edge of technology.
How can I identify whether a Leitronic mobile device is 4G-capable?
Each SMS contains the version number in the response. All 4G / VoLTE capable devices report version 4.xx.
In the Leitronic portal you can filter out these devices and activate LTE with the command AT+WS46=25.
This only makes sense if a VoLTE capable SIM card is used, e.g. the new Leitronic Austria SIM card.
If 4G is enabled on SIM cards without VoLTE support, the device will log into the 4G network and display the 4G reception strength, but will have to fall back to the 3G or 2G network for phone calls, and may have poorer reception.
Do you already offer emergency call 5G devices?
At the moment, only 2G, 3G, and 4G are available for technical reasons.
Although 5G modules exist, mobile phone providers have not yet activated the protocols for low-cost modules (RedCap).
The 5G modules currently available can only be used for data connections. For the elevator emergency call and as long as 2G and 3G are used for telephony in Switzerland and Europe, it is essential that the devices also support these networks.
In its factsheet, SWISSCOM points out that 4G is the most suitable mobile technology for voice applications in durable capital goods. There are currently no plans to switch off 4G / LTE.
The LTE network (LTE = Long Term Evolution) is designed as a long-term technology and therefore has no switch-off date in sight. Telephony via 4G, i.e. VoLTE, is also still not yet supported by all providers. Our devices and SIM cards are already using VoLTE.
As soon as 5G is available at a reasonable cost and a fallback to 4G / VoLTE is also available, we will offer an upgrade board.
How many EasyAlarm / Exicall can be operated on one connection
4 EasyAlarm can be operated on one Leitronic gateway. With the setting "etapierte Ferneinwahl" it doubles this number, but the callback must then be made by calling 2 times.
Can Leitronic emergency call devices also be used in a potentially explosive environment (ATEX)?
Yes, our ATEX barrier can be connected to all emergency call devices, and isolates the signals to and from the call station in accordance with the standards.
